This vintage Pilot is a particularly interesting example of Japanese fountain pen design, combining an understated black-and-gold finish with an unusual original factory oblique gold nib.

Produced during a period when Pilot offered an extensive selection of specialist nibs across its higher-grade fountain pens, this example features a slender black body, gold-plated trim and the clean, restrained styling characteristic of Pilot's vintage writing instruments.

The highlight is its 14K factory oblique nib. This is an original Pilot specialist nib rather than a later nibmeister modification or custom grind.

The tipping was manufactured at an angle to accommodate writers who naturally rotate the pen while writing. Its distinctive geometry is clearly visible in the photographs and gives the pen a writing character quite different from a conventional Fine or Medium nib.

Factory oblique Pilot nibs are encountered considerably less frequently than the standard nib grades, making this an especially interesting pen for collectors of vintage Japanese writing instruments.

This example is in very good vintage condition.

The pen has been carefully inspected, cleaned and tested. The black finish retains a good gloss, while the gold-plated trim presents well overall.

There are light surface marks and signs of previous use consistent with its age. The original factory oblique nib and its distinctive tipping profile are shown closely in the photographs.
