Up for sale is a highly collectible, first-generation Montblanc 252 fountain pen from the late 1950s. Designed during Montblanc's golden mid-century era, this model features the legendary and rare 14K gold "Wing Nib" (Flügelfeder), designed to provide incredible elasticity and smooth line variation. A true piece of writing history for serious collectors.
Product Specifications:
Model: Montblanc 252 (First Generation)
Era: Circa 1957–1959
Origin: Made in Germany
Material: Deep Black Thermoplastic Resin with Gold-Plated Trim
Nib: Original 14K Solid Gold Wing Nib (Flexible/Springy)
Filling System: Built-in Piston Filler
Dimensions: Approx. 125mm capped / 145mm posted
Detailed Condition Report:
Nib & Feed: The rare 14K wing nib is in excellent shape with perfectly aligned tines. It offers a wonderfully springy, expressive writing experience. Original ebonite feed is intact.
Cap & Body: As can be seen from the photos, there is a long crack to the cap. The cap still fits well, and it does not affect the nib or rest of the pen but sadly it is there and the price takes this into account - you are still getting a lot of parts/nice nib, working piston! The cap band features crisp, clear "Montblanc 252" engravings. The iconic white star/snowcap logo on the finial is present. The barrel shows some signs of use. I am happy to answer questions/provide more photos on request.
Mechanics: The piston filling mechanism operates smoothly, draws a full load of ink, and holds a tight seal.
Ink Window: Clear ink window has minimal staining.
