Profit 21

Sailor Profit 21 represents one of Sailor's most iconic fountain pen designs, combining traditional Japanese craftsmanship with a timeless, understated appearance. Introduced as a premium member of the Profit series, the model was created to showcase Sailor's renowned nib-making expertise while maintaining a design focused entirely on the writing experience.

The pen features the classic cigar-shaped silhouette that has become synonymous with Sailor's flagship models. Clean lines, balanced proportions, and thoughtful ergonomics allow it to sit comfortably in the hand, making it equally suitable for quick notes or extended writing sessions. Its elegant simplicity reflects Sailor's philosophy that a fountain pen's true beauty is found not only in its appearance, but also in the quality of its writing performance.

At the heart of the Profit 21 is Sailor's celebrated 21-karat gold nib, handcrafted in Japan and widely regarded for its precision and distinctive writing feel. The combination of traditional craftsmanship, dependable construction, and exceptional writing characteristics has made the Profit 21 a favorite among fountain pen enthusiasts for decades.

Kyomaru Jewelry Workshop

Kyomaru Jewelry Workshop is renowned for transforming precious metals into highly detailed wearable art, combining traditional jewelry-making techniques with imaginative sculptural design. Its limited-edition collaborations showcase the workshop’s expertise in sterling silver craftsmanship, with each component carefully shaped, assembled, and finished by hand.

This special-edition Sailor Profit 21 features an extraordinary sterling silver overlay inspired by the dragon, a powerful creature deeply rooted in Japanese art and mythology. Rather than relying on a simple engraved pattern, the design uses three-dimensional silverwork that wraps around the cap and barrel. The dragon’s sinuous body winds across the pen, creating a sense of movement and strength while bringing the mythical creature to life through sculptural detail.

Each sterling silver component is individually crafted and carefully fitted over the pen’s body. The contrast between the bright, polished silver and the underlying dark surface emphasizes the depth of the openwork design. Intricate details throughout the dragon’s body, scales, claws, and flowing form demonstrate the precision of the workmanship, bringing the level of detail more commonly associated with fine jewelry to a writing instrument.

In Japanese culture, dragons are traditionally associated with strength, wisdom, protection, and auspicious power. Kyomaru interprets this enduring motif through elaborate silver craftsmanship, creating a design that conveys both elegance and commanding presence. Combined with the Sailor Profit 21’s familiar form, this collaboration brings together traditional Japanese symbolism, fine metalwork, and the art of fountain pen making.

The result is a remarkable fusion of Sailor's renowned fountain pen craftsmanship and Kyomaru Jewelry Workshop's mastery of sterling silver artistry. More than a writing instrument, it is a sculptural work of art that showcases the beauty of handcrafted Japanese metalwork.

Sailor`s 21K Gold nib

The 21K gold nib is one of Sailor’s most distinctive achievements and a feature that sets many Professional Gear models apart from other fountain pens. While most manufacturers use 14K or 18K gold, Sailor chose 21K gold (21K-875) for its flagship nibs, creating a writing experience that is uniquely Sailor.

Handcrafted and carefully tuned by Sailor’s skilled nib specialists, the 21K nib is renowned for its precision, consistency, and exceptional control. Rather than emphasizing extreme smoothness, the nib provides the signature Sailor writing feel--a refined tactile feedback that allows the writer to feel connected to the paper while maintaining excellent accuracy and responsiveness.

The nib delivers a smooth and dependable ink flow, making it equally suitable for quick notes, detailed writing, and extended writing sessions. Its carefully balanced design offers a subtle natural softness that enhances comfort without sacrificing the precision for which Sailor nibs are famous. This combination of control and responsiveness has made the 21K nib a favorite among enthusiasts who appreciate a more engaging writing experience.

Visually, the nib features elegant engraving and intricate detailing that reflect Sailor’s long-standing tradition of craftsmanship. Available in a wide range of nib grades and specialty variations, the 21K nib showcases the company's expertise in producing writing instruments tailored to different writing styles and preferences.

Widely regarded as one of the finest production fountain pen nibs in the world, Sailor’s 21K nib embodies more than a century of nib-making expertise, delivering the precision, character, and writing enjoyment that have made Sailor a benchmark in Japanese fountain pen craftsmanship.
