Vintage Montblanc 342G Black Fountain Pen
Vintage Montblanc 342G Black Fountain Pen with gold coated trims, 14kt gold nib, and piston filling system.
The Montblanc 342G was introduced in the early 1950s, and is characteristc of the timeless design of the period.
The design of the 342G hints to the modern Meisterstuck fountain pens, although at 12cm capped this pen is shorter that the modern Meisterstuck models. Its barrel accommodates a piston filling system, while its nib has a less intricate decoration than modern pens. This fountain pen has a screw-on cap.
The fountain pen listed here is preowned but in fairly good condition, it is marked M for a medium nib, but the nib currently on it performs like an italics nib, delivering a slim horizontal and a thicker vertical line. Nevertheless, it performs quite smoothly, and shows some flexibility as well. The piston moved smoothly during our in-house test (June 2024), and the manufacturer's Imprints on the cap and barrel are clearly visible.
Overall the condition of the fountain pen is very good, although naturally it does show some minor signs of wear on its surfaces, but no deep scratches or dents. The most notable defect is that the decorative ring on the cap is loose and may rotate freely.
The item will be shipped in a standard Montblanc giftbox that is from a later period.
