Up for sale is a beautiful, fully authentic example of British fountain pen history:
A Mabie Todd Swan Minor SM200/60 self-filling lever pen, manufactured in England during the mid-to-late 1930s.
Often mistaken for hard rubber, the /60 factory designation guarantees this pen is crafted from Black Chased Celluloid (BCC). This means you get the stunning, tactile depth of the classic chevron/wave chasing design without any of the oxidation, browning, or water-sensitivity associated with ebonite. The pen remains a deep, glossy piano black.
Cosmetics: Excellent vintage condition. The chevron chasing on both the barrel and cap is incredibly crisp and clean, showing minimal pocket wear.
Imprints: The barrel features exceptionally sharp, deep factory stamps reading "SWAN" SELF-FILLER / MABIE, TODD & CO LTD / MADE IN ENGLAND alongside the iconic Swan logo.
Nib & Feed: Equipped with a gorgeous, original 14K Gold Swan No. 2 nib with a stunning heart-shaped breather hole. Smooth writer with wonderful line variation (semi-flex to flex). The ebonite feed and the section are correctly matching, stamped "SWAN" M2.
Trim: Nickel-plated clip showing authentic vintage patina/aging on the clip ball, giving it an undeniable historical character.
Mechanism: Lever-filler operating smoothly with a flush-fitting black lever. (Fully restored with a fresh ink sac, ready to write).
