Rotring Freeway Fountain Pen
Manufacturer/Model: Rotring Germany/ FreewayYear of production: Launched between 1999-2001, Pen here made in the mid to late 2000sFilling system: Cartridges or ConverterNib: Stainless Steel, MMaterial: AluminiumCondition: never used
The Freeway Series is the last edition of the Rotring fountain writing instruments. After the acquisition from Newell Rubbermaid in 1998, Rotring started moving away from the production of fountain pens, hence the Freeway was one of their last fountain pen lines together with the Skynn and Newton made till the early 200s. Therefore this pen has some special place in history.
The Rotring Freeway Rubin Red Fountain pen is superb in many ways because it represents a perfect combination of attractive exterior and technical efficiency. The body of the pen is crafted in aluminum and it is finished off with a matte rubin red finish and chrome trim giving the pen its velvet feel and texture. A stylish ascent is given to the cap band with the satin chrome trim. Its cigar shape ends in a red ring (rOtring) on the cap and the grip section is tapered as it comes to its end. The clip has an ellipse and the name of the Rotring company engravings. The pen features a snap-on cap with a very price open and closing mechanism. For better balance and handling, the cap can be posted which will also gives the pen a longer length and weight.
This fountain pen is fitted with a superb, clear face, stainless steel, M size nib with an iridium tip which provides resistance to abrasion, but also makes the nib super smooth on the paper. The nib is also somewhat soft, with some small flexibility, so it does not feel stiff as many steel nibs can be. The pen will provide you with the perfect writing experience as it simply glides on any paper. The pen uses a cartridge filling system and the original cartridge comes with the pen. The pen’s ergonomic design and perfect precision allow you to have a comfortable, tireless writing experience. Best of all, the pen is super easy to maintain, clean, and use with either cartridges or a converter. The aluminum body gives the pen a substantial weight which contributes to almost perfect balance.
