Over this base, the plum blossom design is applied using maki-e techniques, where gold and colored powders are delicately placed onto the lacquer and sealed through repeated coating and polishing. The “Flowers of Plum Tree” motif features blooming plum blossoms arranged across the pen’s surface, often with branches extending along the barrel and cap.
