Discover the exquisite **Diplomat 2 EF Safety fountain pen**, a remarkable vintage writing instrument from 1920, meticulously restored by Heron's Mooncake.

Diplomat, a notable subbrand often exported by Montblanc, was known for pioneering various pen mechanisms. This particular model is a clean example of its era, crafted from striking black chased ebonite. The ebonite has been rejuvenated and lightly hand-polished, restoring its original 'softness' and luster. The chasing and imprints on the turning knob are in extremely mint condition, showing minimal signs of its age. This pen has seen light use and features a blank personalization area.

At the heart of this pen is a #2 14k gold nib, boasting a 'noodle soft' flex that makes it an exceptionally precise writer, bordering on an Extra-Extra Fine (EEF) or Ultra-Extra Fine (UEF). It delivers amazing snap, producing super crispy hairlines and beautifully sharp line edges. The nib features an EF, Cursive Italic grind, offering impressive line variation from 0.20 to 1.6 (an 8.0x ratio) with a flexibility of 225g, making it a versatile tool for expressive calligraphy and detailed work. It has been heat-set and tuned for optimal flex and smoothness, and was tested on Rhodia 80gsm A5 pad with Pelikan 4001 Brilliant Black Ink.

Its restoration includes new, tight, and lubricated o-ring seals on the reverse pinned knob, ensuring reliable performance. With a restoration grade of 'B', this pen is presented in excellent, ready-to-use condition.

The pen measures 132.81mm in length, with a grip section of 9.71mm.
